From My Heart to Yours: A Journey of Faith, Family, and Resilience

Dear God, thank you for the courage to share my life. I pray you give me the words that will encourage and uplift all who are driven to my blogs.

in Jesus Name. Amen.

Well, here goes nothing! After years of contemplating I have finally decided to share my life and my journey with you. This is so strange to me. Anyone who knows me knows that I am an anti-social woman! Lord knows I prefer to stay in the back of the room and I rather not be in any of the pictures! I realize that life throws so many lemons. In sharing my story I hope to encourage others who have experienced or are experiencing the same things, or similar. You ever start talking to someone and they’re like “Oh my gosh, that happened to me?” Or they may even indicate they’re going through the same? That happens to me all the time! Sometimes when I talk to people they feel relieved that someone else understand what they’re going through.

Welcome to my very first blog post. I am going to try to always start with a prayer of gratitude. It’s my way just to acknowledge who has given me the ability to get through every challenge I’ve experienced.

I realize it’s possible that no one reads my blogs. It is ok! No matter how many people read my blogs, I am really just excited to share my life with you all.

Enough of my rambling, let me go ahead and introduce myself. I am simply Shaye. I’m a 40-year-old African American single God fearing mother who’s been married and divorced and have the love for basketball, computers, camping, and quietly reading more than most females. I have a family full of strong, independent and resilient spirits. I have two amazing adult daughters—can we pause for a second to acknowledge that I have adult daughters?? Wow! I remember the day God granted me them. Boy I was terrified to fail. I am so in awe of their accomplishments. They are amazing young women. My eldest a former college basketball player, now working in childcare, and my other is an entrepreneur who owns a beauty business. My journey also includes a son who was adopted who I’ll only share past info about when he’s ok with it, a 12-year-old autistic son, and my 4-year-old niece, who I’ve been caring for since she was an infant. I did not plan to keep my niece as long as I have. She was only supposed to be with me until her biological mother, my half sister, moved to the state I live in. I’m grateful she is still here. Life would be so different without her! One day I’ll share our story about her, not today though.

Life has thrown us some challenges, from managing health issues to grief to name a few. Honestly, life has also been really good to us! Through this blog, I’ll share real-life stories of how I navigated the twists and turns life brought and I’ll share exciting events, with hopes that they resonate, uplift, or simply let others know they’re not alone in their journey.

Thank you for being here—I’m looking forward to sharing this path with you.

Signing off…

Simply Shaye ❤️
