Touchy Topics: Why My Body’s Screaming and I’m Listening (Sometimes)

Dear God, I know sometimes you look down at me and think… girl what are you doing? As I grow into the vibrant woman destiny has planned for me, I just want to stay in your will. So please continue to look low while you sit high. Thank you for never forgetting me. Amen 🚨 Trigger Warning: This post is full of grown-woman honesty, sexual energy, and a few moments where my body had to be reminded who’s in charge. If you’re uncomfortable with talk of womanhood in its rawest form—this may not be for you. But if you’ve ever felt like your body is betraying you in broad daylight? Pull up a chair, sis.🚨 Let me be real: I’m 41, but my drive is acting like it just got a learner’s permit. I don’t know what hormonal magic potion kicks in after 40, but chile… it’s like the volume knob on my libido got snatched off and I can’t turn it down. I feel like I’m a teenager all over again—but wiser, curvier, and with kids and bills. I’m out here minding my business—driving, at work, folding laundry—and b...

Legacy in Motion: Breaking Barriers while Shaping History

Dear God, it is you who has given us talents. Thank you for my gifts. Thank you that my gifts have made room for my right now and my future. You don’t have to think of us or love us but you do, so I am forever appreciative. My life would not be the same without you. I trust you. In Jesus name we pray, thank God. Amen. BHM Week 2: In lieu of the Super Bowl, I’d love to honor African-American athletes from, past time and current, who have made significant contributions to American football, breaking barriers and setting records throughout sports history. Charles Follis: Known as the first Black professional football player, Follis played for the Shelby Blues from 1902 to 1906. A two-sport athlete, he began his professional football career in 1904. Fritz Pollard: In 1920, Pollard became one of the first two African-American players in the NFL. A year later, he made history as the league’s first African-American head coach. Beyond his playing and coaching career, Pollard was a significan...

Unbroken- Black Women Who Turned Trauma into Triumph

Dear God,  Thank you for those who have come before me. Thank you for the ability to educate myself and see others who have labored for my family and I to be free. Continue to bless us and watch over us as we navigate this thing called life. Even now under the administration with blatant and direct disrespect, Lord help us to be a beacon of your light. I continue to strive to be who you have destined me to be. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Happy Black History Month! Pain has long been a silent companion in the lives of Black people, but today we will focus on the Black Woman. For centuries, we have endured violence, oppression, and unspeakable trauma. Through it all, over and over again, we still rise. From the horrors of slavery to the injustices of today, Black women have not only survived but have turned their pain into power, using our voices to spark change, inspire generations, and demand justice. This post honors the stories of remarkable Black women who endured sexual ...

From Failure to Faith: A Single Mom’s Journey

Dear God, As I enter the year of 2025, I offer my thanks to You. Another year has passed, and I am still standing. Had it not been for Your mercy and grace, I would have lost my mind. I owe my life to You, God. Thank You for Your protection. Thank You for waking me up to see another new day that has never been seen before. I could not do this thing called life without You. Thank You for all You have done, all that is to come, and everything unseen. In Jesus name I pray, thank God. Amen. Happy New Year, all! I have missed writing. I did not realize how much I enjoy it until I took a break. I have made a promise to myself that no matter what I am juggling or how hard life gets, I will take time for myself. Most importantly, I have promised to take time for my children. Even though I am blogging now, I plan to take a break every December to reflect and enjoy all that God has done throughout the year. Consider it my reset button. I have spent a large part of my life as a single mother. Ove...

Embracing the Spectrum: Our Family’s Journey with Autism

Dear God, Whatever You have for us, I know it is for us. Thank You for sitting high and looking low. Thank You for continually proving the doubters wrong and providing a peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, I trust You. Amen. Most parents would agree: our children are our kryptonite. For me, there’s no faster way to get me amped up and out of character than messing with one of my babies. And yes, I said babies. My 19- and 20-year-olds, along with my six-foot-something 17-year-old, and my four year old terrorist, will always be my babies. That mother’s instinct, the one that clicks the moment you find out you’re pregnant, is life-changing. It shifts your entire world for the better, and I’m just so grateful that God chose me to be their mom. I could go on about motherhood for hours, but today I want to focus on my sweet 12-year-old son. Despite his autism diagnosis, he’s all boy—cracking jokes, eating like he has a bottomless pit for a stomach, and living life to the fullest. ...
